About Us

People always ask what made me want to start LA Lords and why? So I thought I’d talk a little about myself first.

I’m a L.A. native, born from radical parents, in a bath tub some decades ago.

I’ve been a musician since the womb (www.vincentminormusic.com) and when the going got tough I found creative ways to earn and support myself. I like to get my hands dirty and dig into life. I’ve traveled to many countries and I relish in learning about different cultures. I’m pretty down to earth, people that are not from L.A. are surprised when they realize that most natives aren’t caught up in “Hollywood”.

Ok so before this goes on sounding like a personal ad, I’ll get to the point.

I created LA Lords because I was getting tired of the same gay activities that our gay culture had to offer and wanted to bring people together for a more substantial reason than just drinking with the boys and watching men strip to Beyonce. Now with the internet being the modus operandi for dating, people are getting used to making connections without having that vital magical aspect: chemistry and body language! Sure there’s tons of success stories from online dating sites but most of the time you will know if you are attracted to someone by their physical energy, and that’s not something you can get through emails and photos.

So then the idea for speed dating sparked my curiosity at a friend’s dinner party. I attended a couple events myself and found they lacked any edge or creativity to them and I thought to myself I could do it better! So I did a test last year and put together a speed dating event for gay artists and it was very well received and attended. I made everyone sketch a self portrait of themselves before we began the event to break the ice. I then tested more themed nights and found that people really responded and thanked me for having them, I was honored that people came in the first place!

People crave something fun, creative and different in our community. It’s a way for me to involve myself in my community and support my own creative goals as a musician. I’m happy to play matchmaker for the time being, who knows where I’ll be in the future but I’m enjoying the ride until I get to the next place I’m supposed to be.

Thanks for listening!
